WHO WE ARE
Homes for All St. Louis (HFASTL) (to be called Tenants Transforming Greater St. Louis) is a Black renter-led organization that catalyzes tenant associations that serve as an accountability mechanism for landlords to improve or maintain housing quality. HFASTL provides tenant leadership development through Know Your Rights and political training, and a 7-day a week Renter Hotline for resources and lease interpretation. Under the Homes for All St. Louis umbrella, tenant associations and renters advocate for a more renter-friendly policy environment. HFASTL catalyzed over 5 tenant associations, stopped the eviction of Southwest Crossing Tenant Association through a historical rent strike on the anniversary of the 1969 public housing tenant strike in the City of St. Louis. Due to HFASTL ongoing work, rights for renters in the City of St. Louis were extended through the passage of Right to Counsel in 2023 and the introduction of the Rental Registry and the Impacted Tenants Fund. In 2024 and beyond awaits the expansion of renters rights in habitability and housing quality.
